Reader x Loki - Chapter Nineteen

Tick… Tick… Tick… Tick…

A constant tick echoed loudly, but sounded far away. The sound of white noise buzzed loudly in your ears, slowly becoming unbearable. The two sounds mixed together incompletely as you looked up at the glowing moon. The crescent moon curled high above, the stars twinkled brightly. After the noises continued rhythmically you reached over and turned the dial, silencing the old radio at your side on the rusty platform you sat on. You sighed, gazing longingly at the unending night sky, now the metallic ticks echoed lowly through your ears. An ominous wind now quietly swam through your head as if it were empty, each breeze tugging at your hair and anything it could grab hold of.

Something in the sky twinkled brightly. It shone. A warm gold glow emitting from it, the sight making you gasp. After gazing at the gold orb in awe you leapt from you spot, landing on a rough, rock-like surface with a soft thud.

You ran towards the orb, stopping when you reached a crumbling cliff. Standing at the edge you gazed to the sky, closing your eyes in disappointment. The wind pulled at you, as if wanting you to follow it, if only that were possible. The gusts blew loudly, whistling in your ears, blowing your hair throughout your face. It pushed you with such sudden force your eyes flew open in fright that you would fall from the edge, but when you opened your eyes you were met with an unbelievable sight. Golden towers of unspeakable beauty and majesty rose high above you, shining in the bright light. You gaped in awe, wanting to move closer, but unable under some invisible weight.

As sudden as a cloud passing the sun, engulfing the land below in shadow, you felt out of place here, as if you didn't belong. Gazing at the architecture of the buildings around you, you felt a fear set in deep within your stomach. Swallowing loudly you tightened your hands into fists, but just as you did so you felt another hand within yours. Surprised you looked over, meeting the familiar smile of Loki, his hand holding yours firmly. You smiled lightly, but it quickly faded as a whistling noise filled the air. As it the wind was sucking this magical world away from you. A loud rumbling noise followed the wind, a menacing shadow sweeping across the land. Gasping as you looked around at this spectacle, you looked back at Loki who was fading away. As quickly as it had begun, the world was engulfed in darkness and you stood there, floating in the cosmos.
