It was while you were hunkered down under a thick blanket with a mug of hot chocolate and catching up on the latest episode of your favourite show that you realized how big of a deal Loki’s disappearance might actually be. You knew that he wasn’t from Earth and for some reason it seemed difficult for you to truly comprehend, but now that you really thought about it you realized that you didn’t know anything about Loki. Right now he could be in peril and there would be nothing for you to do about it, but then he could also be being held back by some family issues. Not knowing what is keeping Loki from returning is making you worried. You wished he would be right back in your home, sure it was tiresome having him work you like a housewife, but it was worth it because at least in your house the only thing that you had to worry about hurting him was yourself.
With a heaving sigh you took a big gulp of your hot chocolate, savouring the feel of the warmth slide down your throat and into your core. It calmed you to the point where you could actually pay attention to the show you were watching and what you might have to face the next day.
The next day, on your drive to work
You sighed at the thought, you aren’t, and never will be, the only woman to be beguiled by some of the world’s most attractive men. You slowed to a stop at a red light and were rubbing your eyes from the constant sleep that stalked you when you noticed that you have been circling Stark Tower for most of the drive.
Parking your car and entering the building you were met by Pepper and another woman who you did not know the name of, but you knew you saw her from somewhere before you just couldn’t put a finger on it.
“Who’s this?” You ask as you walk up to Pepper, taking your to-do list and looking over at the woman thinking that maybe if you stare at her long enough you would be able to tell who she is.
“This is Natalie Rushman, she’s Mr. Stark’s new assistant,” Pepper replied as you studied the new girl’s features.
She had dark red hair that rolled in waves down from the crown of her head and wore a white blouse tucked into a black pencil skirt with translucent stockings and black heels. Nothing of her appearance helped you to figure out why she seemed so familiar but your gut told you to not trust her so you followed it’s advice.
“It’s nice to meet you,” Natalie said extending her hand out to you.
“Yes, it’s a pleasure to meet you too,” you said with a fake smile and shook her hand, “I would love to chat, but of course I have work to do so if you don’t mind I’ll be going now.”
You left, throwing a quick glance back at Pepper and Natalie as they walked down the hall opposite of you.
Sighing into your to-do list sitting in your car you knew you would continue to be bothered by this new girl until you did a little background search, which would prove difficult trying to get her to talk. You definitely couldn’t do it on a computer for the fact that you didn’t have the software or the techy ability to even hack into hidden documents or websites. Your only hope to get information out of Natalie is to befriend her and hope that she will eventually let loose a little tidbit here and there, but for now you had a list of various things to get through.
